Our story
With panoramic views of the quay, the Boathouse has the most unique location in Christchurch. Extensive outdoor and indoor seating and our own mini golf course make the Boathouse the ideal place for the whole family. Eat alfresco or relax indoors and enjoy breakfast, coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and cake, dinner, delicious pizza, a glass of wine and watch as the world passes by. We’re open 7 days a week, 9am til late serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is served all day Breakfast is served 9am – 11.30am, 7 days a week Lunch is served 12 – 3pm with our Bar Menu served 3 – 6pm, midweek only Main Menu is served from 6pm through to close midweek, and from 12 noon to close at the weekends *Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 9pm, Thursday 9.30pm, Friday & Saturday 10pm and Sunday 9pm Midweek our full restaurant menu is served for dinner 6pm – close, with our lunch menu 12 – 3pm and our bar & jetty menu between 3 – 6pm. On Saturday and Sundays our full menu is served 12 – close. Brunch is on Saturday & Sundays 11.30am – 1pm. The quayside kiosk is also open 7 days a week, serving from 8.30am.
All of our food is freshly prepared to the highest standard. We use only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients, where possible, to create mouth watering and original dishes to suit all tastes. Our seasonal specials change daily. Enjoy locally sourced seafood, stone baked pizza, wines and cocktails alongside panoramic views of Christchurch Quay. Our Quayosk is a takeaway kiosk for food and drink beside our quayside location, for you to enjoy at Christchurch Quay. Wings, burgers, pizza and waffles are on offer, with no pre-ordering necessary. Our 12 hole mini golf course is ideal for keeping the kids (and big kids!) entertained. The course is only open throughout the summer season. No booking is necessary: just turn up and pay at the takeaway kiosk on the quay. We offer a range of areas to eat, drink and relax in, which can be booked in advance of your visit. Reservations will be taken for dining only. We highly recommend advance booking. You are welcome to turn up without a booking for our restaurant and outdoor areas, but will only be seated if we have available space. Please note we welcome dogs on our veranda and outside areas, but unfortunately not inside. Dress Code: We respectfully ask that you do not wear baseball caps, sportswear or fancy dress. Decorations: You are welcome to bring a cake for special occasions free of charge. We ask please not to decorate the restaurant tables with confetti, or to have confetti balloons.

The Boathouse Cafe and Restaurant is uniquely positioned in a superb location overlooking Christchurch Quay. Situated in an idyllic setting on the banks of the River Stour, the Boathouse is just two minutes’ walk from Christchurch Priory and Christchurch town centre. Christchurch quay is a beautiful place to visit and for the kids there is a playground and playing field. From the quay you can find a ferry that will take you over to Hengistbury Head or over to the Beach House, our sister restaurant at Mudeford Sandspit. A little further along the Quay there is a ferry boat that will take you across the river to the pretty village of Wick or even onto Tuckton.
